Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has challenged his players to prove they have what it takes to play for England.
Another England squad was announced on Thursday without a member of the Eagles represented, and Pardew believes that staying in the Premier League is key if the likes of Wilfried Zaha are going to impress Roy Hodgson.
"There's not been too many in recent years and it would be nice to get a player into that squad," the Palace boss told reporters.
"Sometimes when your team has only just been promoted and you're in your second year you haven't really got the foundations yet to prove you're good enough at that level.
"Our boys are fighting for that status and you need to prove that status."
Zaha and Martin Kelly are the only current Palace players to have made a senior appearance for England.
