Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish elated with Yohan Cabaye signing

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish reveals that he is delighted with the signing of Yohan Cabaye for a club-record fee of £10m.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has admitted that he is overwhelmed with excitement following the signing of Yohan Cabaye.

The France international signed for the Eagles for a fee of £10m from Paris Saint-Germain after he struggled to earn playing time at the Ligue 1 Champions last season.

Parish feels that the arrival of the midfielder is one of the biggest signings in the club's history, and cannot wait to see him playing for Palace at Selhurst Park.

He told the club's official website: "Yohan's obviously someone who knows Alan [Pardew] and wants to play, he wasn't getting enough game time at Paris Saint-Germain and he's got the Euros next year and wants to play in that desperately. He's got 38 caps for France already.

"For Palace it's just another moment of truth. We've set a marker down. We mean business in this league! This is a fabulous player, by the way, for those people who haven't really seen him. Anyone who was at Selhurst Park that afternoon when Newcastle beat us 3-0 will know. We couldn't get near him.

"It's unbelievably exciting. It's the biggest transfer, from a money point of view, we've ever made. It's the biggest signing from a personality point of view, too. You might put Attilio [Lombardo] there, in that category. The only other player that we've had that's in the same quality level would be Ian Wright. So it's Ian Wright, Attilio and Yohan."

Cabaye previously played for Newcastle United from 2011 to 2014.
