Scott Dann: 'Safety not guaranteed yet'

Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann believes that his side should now be safe from relegation, but admits that they can't rest easy until it is mathematically guaranteed.

Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann has warned that his side cannot afford to relax completely until they are mathematically safe from the threat of relegation.

The Eagles earned another point towards survival at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon as Yannick Bolasie cancelled out an Alexis Sanchez opener to rescue a 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

That leaves Alan Pardew's side nine clear of the bottom three with just four games of the season remaining, but Dann is still hopeful that they can finish the campaign strongly.

"We knew it would be a tough game, we dug in there, when it is 1-0 there is a good chance to get something out of the game, especially when we have players like Yannick who can pop up and get us a goal," he told BBC Sport.

"In the first half we lacked energy, they were on top, but we defended well and when Wayne Hennessey was called upon he made some good saves.

"Looking at the table we would like to think we are safe, but until we are mathematically safe you can't turn a blind eye. We would like to get something out of Wednesday's match at Manchester United and start looking at teams above us."

Palace also have an FA Cup semi-final against Watford to look forward to next weekend.
