Crystal Palace forward Bakary Sako says that he is keen to remain with the Eagles past the end of the current campaign, despite just six months remaining on his deal.

Crystal Palace forward Bakary Sako has suggested that he wants to remain at Selhurst Park past the end of the current campaign.

Sako has endured a frustrating two-and-a-half years with the Eagles, with just 16 starts being made in all competitions since signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer.

However, having scored five goals this season and having impressed since the arrival of Roy Hodgson, the Mali international appears hopeful that he can continue to "enjoy" his football with the Premier League side despite having just six months remaining on his contract.

The 29-year-old is quoted by the Croydon Advertiser as saying: "Yes, of course. Of course, of course. I am just enjoying my football at the moment, so I am not really focused on my contract situation.

"It's not about my personal situation, I just want to help the team and we'll see at the end of the season. Fingers crossed I am injury-free now and I am enjoying my football.

"I have had to recovery properly after training and matches, to do things right. I was doing that before but I was just unlucky. I don't know why I was getting injured but now I am really happy."

Despite an upturn in fortunes, Sako has still only played 248 minutes of football in the top flight this season.
