Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has revealed that he wants to sign several more players before his side are ready to compete in the Championship.
Freedman said that Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Welling has shown him that Palace's young players are not yet ready and that more first-team players are needed.
"The result was disappointing but this has taught me a few lessons about what players can do and what they can't do," Freedman told Sky Sports News.
"It showed me that some of the young players are nowhere near ready for the first team and that we need more depth in the squad.
"We are way short in squad numbers. We need to add a left winger, possibly a right winger, a couple up top and maybe a centre-half."
Crystal Palace finished 17th in the Championship last season.
