Crystal Palace have fallen short with a second bid for Lille centre-back Ibrahim Amadou, according to a report.
The Eagles are said to have tabled a £16m offer at the start of the January window for the 24-year-old, who has been at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy since 2015.
Palace have already moved to bring in Poland international defender Jaroslaw Jach this month, but boss Roy Hodgson is said to be keen to further strengthen at the back.
Despite Lille's apparent reluctance to sell, Sky Sports News suggests that the Ligue 1 outfit will budge on that stance if a slightly improved bid is made as they are at risk of Financial Fair Play restraints.
Amadou, under contract with Les Dogues until 2020, has appeared 20 times in the French top flight this term.
