Deportivo La Coruna are reportedly interested in signing Villarreal midfielder Cani on a season-long loan this summer.
The Spaniard has been with Villarreal since 2006 – making more than 250 league appearances for the Yellow Submarine.
The 33-year-old no longer figures in the plans of head coach Marcelino, however, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
According to AS, Deportivo are firmly interested in taking the experienced Spaniard on loan, but his wages are the main stumbling block.
Cani is believed to have turned down offers from abroad as he looks to remain in the top flight of Spanish football.
