Watford enjoyed a 2-1 win over Derby County at Pride Park with goals from Sean Murray and Troy Deeney this afternoon.
After some early pressure from Watford, they took the lead after just eight minutes. Alex Kacaniklic, the winger on loan from Fulham, ran on to Troy Deeney's pass to cut the ball back to Murray, who slotted it home to make it 1-0.
Watford continued to press and were soon rewarded again when Deeney doubled their lead on 15 minutes. Kacaniklic ran 50 yards unchallenged on the counter attack before setting up Deeney, who finished via a deflection for 2-0.
The early goals rocked Derby and the home side struggled to impose themselves upon the game as Watford kept possession well.
However, the Rams worked hard to get themselves back in the game and were rewarded on the half-hour mark. Ben Davies's in-swinging free kick bounced through a whole host of players - seemingly without any touch - to make it 2-1.
As the second half began, each side worked hard to get a grip on the game but seemed to cancel each other out. However, Watford were the better side as they controlled the majority of the possession.
Despite dominating the second half, no clear cut chances were created by the away side.
The game ended in a 2-1 victory for Watford, who take all three points.
