Dundee United have lodged an appeal to overturn Paul Paton's red card against Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
The midfielder was mistakenly dismissed during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Tannadice Park after teammate Calum Butcher clashed with Virgil van Dijk.
Following the fiery encounter between the teams, Dundee boss Jackie McNamara hinted that the club would be looking to have the red card rescinded.
"Dundee United confirms that it has submitted an appeal to the Scottish FA relating to the dismissal of midfielder Paul Paton during the Scottish Cup quarter-final versus Celtic on Sunday," read an official club statement.
Dundee United are back in action on March 15 when they face Celtic again in the Scottish League Cup final.
