Dundee United have secured the services of Guy Demel, subject to international clearance.
The defender has been without a club since he was released by West Ham United in the summer, having made 83 appearances during a four-year stint at Upton Park.
However, the 34-year-old has now returned to the game at Tannadice Park, where he has agreed a deal until the end of the season.
"I want to identify myself with the club. I have many years of experience in football and if I can use my knowledge to help the younger players here that is what I will do," Demel told the club's official website.
"I have been training hard and I can't wait to play for Dundee United. I am ready as soon as the head coach needs me."
As well as West Ham, the former Ivory Coast international has played for Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg.
