East Stirlingshire have climbed off the foot of Scottish League Two after battling to a 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Montrose.
David Greenhill's goal in the second half proved enough to move the Shire level on points with their opponents and leapfrog Elgin City into ninth place.
However, Elgin edged a five-goal thriller 3-2 at Annan Athletic and can move away from the basement if they win their two games in hand.
The showdown between the division's top two clubs - Arbroath and Albion Rovers - fell victim to the weather, and third-placed Queen's Park failed to fully capitalise as they were held to a goalless draw at East Fife.
Meanwhile, Berwick Rangers broke into the playoff positions with a 3-0 win at Clyde, with Darren Lavery netting a brace either side of a Kerr Young strike.
