England Under-21s boss Aidy Boothroyd suggests that both Nathaniel Chalobah and Nathan Redmond were withdrawn against Poland Under-21s as a precaution.

England Under-21s boss Aidy Boothroyd has suggested that he will give both Nathaniel Chalobah and Nathan Redmond as much time as possible to try to recover for the Under-21 Euro 2017 semi-finals.

Both players were substituted due to injury during England's 3-0 victory over Poland on Thursday, but Boothroyd has hinted that their withdrawal was more of a precaution.

The 46-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "They have been massive players for us, in qualifying and here. We will see how they are.

"Nathaniel felt a little bit stiff around his groin area and we felt it best to bring him off, we didn't want to make it any worse. Redmond was the same, we just felt that if he had kept going he might have done some real damage.

"We have five days now and I want all 23 players available for the semi-final. Over to you, medics."

England are currently waiting to discover their opponents for the last four, with Germany, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia and Czech Republic all in the running to meet the Three Lions on Tuesday.
