Fran Kirby, Ellen White among nominees for Women's Ballon d'Or

England Women duo Fran Kirby and Ellen White are among the nominees for the Women's 2021 Ballon d'Or.

Chelsea Women forward Kirby scooped the FWA's Women's Footballer of the Year award for the 2020-21 season after propelling the Blues to the Women's Super League crown with 16 goals and 11 assists.

Meanwhile, Manchester City Women's white notched up 10 league goals last term and briefly topped the all-time goalscoring list in the WSL before being overtaken by Vivianne Miedema, who is Arsenal Women's sole representative.

A total of five Chelsea players make up the 20 nominees - the joint-most alongside Barcelona Women - with Kirby joined by teammates Samantha Kerr, Pernille Harder, Magdalena Eriksson and Jessie Fleming also up for the award.

A total of seven players from the Women's Super League have been nominated for the third edition of the award, which was first won by Ada Hegerberg in 2018 before Megan Rapinoe scooped the award in 2019.
