Aston Villa goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has earned a recall to the England Women's squad for their upcoming matches with Brazil and Australia.

The Lionesses will take part in the inaugural Women's Finalissima against South American champions Brazil on April 6 at Wembley before hosting Australia at the Gtech Community Stadium five days later.

Sarina Wiegman has named a largely recognisable squad from the contingent that defended the Arnold Clark Cup last month, but there is a notable return for Hampton.

The 22-year-old has been absent from the international setup since Euro 2022, and reports subsequently emerged claiming that she was dropped due to concerns over her attitude.

However, Hampton was then revealed to have been dealing with an ongoing medical problem which required surgery in November, and she has since returned to form with Aston Villa.

Aiming to build on the two caps she has already won for England, Hampton has been rewarded with a recall to the national team setup, as has Manchester City defender Esme Morgan.

The uncapped Lucy Parker - who withdrew from October's clashes due to injury - could now earn her first appearance for the senior side, while Lotte Wubben-Moy, Katie Zelem, Ebony Salmon and the injured Emily Ramsey drop out.

Furthermore, there is still no place in the setup for Bethany England, who has scored five goals in her last six Women's Super League appearances for Tottenham Hotspur.

"We're getting closer to the World Cup and I can't think of two better games to assess our progress. After these games, there will be less than three months until we fly to the tournament and we must make every second on and off the pitch count," Wiegman told englandfootball.com after naming her squad.

"For us as a technical staff this will be the last chance to see the players within our England environment before we come together for the final preparation phase in June. And these two matches will be two real tests to see where we are at.

"This is a major new trophy and to compete for it at a sold-out Wembley is another special moment, both for us as a team but also for our fans. We will never take these occasions for granted and I want to see how we perform against two teams that will be hoping to challenge for the World Cup."

April's matches represent England's final warm-up fixtures before the start of the 2023 World Cup in July, as the European champions prepare to meet Haiti, Denmark and China in Group D.
