Mo Marley has reportedly been earmarked to take over the England Women's team on an interim basis.
The role of Lionesses head coach is currently vacant after Mark Sampson was sacked on September 20.
According to Sky Sports News, the appointment of current Under-19s coach Marley will be officially announced on Friday.
The 50-year-old, who was formerly in charge of Everton Ladies, is expected to take charge for the friendly against France next month and the opening World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kazakhstan in November.
The report goes on to claim that the Football Association will launch a more exhaustive search for a permanent successor at the end of the year.
Sampson, who led the Lionesses to third place at the 2015 Women's World Cup and the semi-finals at Euro 2017 this summer, was dismissed after information came to light about his conduct during his time at Bristol Academy.
