Alex Scott targeting history with England at Women's World Cup

Alex Scott insists that England Women aren't ready to end their World Cup journey as they prepare for a tricky test against Norway on Monday evening.

England Women defender Alex Scott has warned last-16 opponents Norway that reaching the final of the World Cup is the minimum aim for her side.

The Three Lionesses recovered from an opening-game defeat against France to advance into the knockout rounds of the competition, with victories over Mexico and Colombia proving enough.

Mark Sampson's side, who have never progressed beyond this stage before, are now hopeful of creating history when they take on Norway on Monday night.

"We want to be here until the final," Scott told the FA's official website. "That is our aim. We said that coming into the tournament, and once you're in it, it's not about going home.

"Nobody wants to go home early. We are going into the game thinking 'we want to build on the Colombia performance and we want to progress in this tournament'."

England are ranked five places above Norway in the current world rankings.
