England forward Andy Carroll has hailed a "great night" following the Three Lions' 3-2 win over Sweden at Euro 2012.
The 23-year-old gave his side a half-time lead with his first competitive international goal.
However, England then fell behind after the break and needed late goals from Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck to secure the vital victory.
"It is a great night for me and the team," said Carroll. "I was told this morning I was playing and got my head around it in the afternoon and scored.
"The manager told everyone what we had to do and when we went 2-1 we had to fight back. I gave the free kick away and they scored, then got another but we showed the determination we have in the side.
"Both centre-halves were tough but I enjoyed the game and I am happy with the result."
Carroll's only previous international goal came in the 1-1 draw with Ghana in March 2011.
