Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has been named England captain for Euro 2012.
The 31-year-old was confirmed as the new skipper by England boss Roy Hodgson on Wednesday, with the 64-year-old praising his 'commitment'.
"I know him as a player and a person and how committed he is to the England cause. He will help me build the team unity and environment we need to thrive in a tournament," Hodgson told reporters.
Gerrard has 90 international caps to his name.
