Wayne Rooney is pleased that winning is becoming a habit for England after the Three Lions made it five successive victories by beating Slovenia 3-1 at Wembley.
Jordan Henderson's own goal gave the visitors the lead before Rooney earned and then converted a penalty to mark his 100th international cap with the equaliser.
A brace from Danny Welbeck completed an England comeback which captain Rooney feels was evidence of the character within a group which has yet to really be tested in their 100% Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
"It was a good day in the end. We had to show character and that will be good for us in the team," he told reporters. "Since the World Cup we haven't faced that.
"It really woke us up and we went and showed what a good side we are. For the penalty I was trying to get a yard and I was clipped, it was a clear penalty. We have a winning mentality at the minute."
Rooney's 44th international goal took him joint-third with Jimmy Greaves in England's all-time scoring charts.
