Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand has pulled out of the England squad to face Germany on Saturday evening.
The left-back has not trained since arriving for international duty because of a knock that he picked up during the 3-2 win over Liverpool at the weekend.
Following an assessment by England's medical staff, it has now been confirmed that the 26-year-old will return to the south coast for further treatment.
He has been ruled out of the clash in Berlin and although there has been no mention of the home game against the Netherlands three days later, Bertrand is not expected to feature at Wembley.
No replacement has been called up, which would indicate that Danny Rose is in line to start both matches on the left side of the defence.
