Wales boss Chris Coleman says that he is "really disappointed" for Sam Allardyce after he left his role with England earlier this week.

Wales boss Chris Coleman has said that he is "really disappointed" for Sam Allardyce after he was removed from his position as manager of England earlier this week.

On Monday night, The Telegraph published footage of Allardyce appearing to advise fictitious Far East investors of ways to "get around" third-party ownership, which is banned by the Football Association.

Less than 24 hours later, it was revealed that Allardyce had left the role after just one game, and Coleman has admitted that he was "gutted" for the former Three Lions boss.

The 46-year-old told reporters: "I'm really disappointed for Sam. I was with him last week at a coaches' conference in Paris and I know he will be absolutely devastated.

"I've known Sam for a long time and I know how much he wanted the job and how proud he was to get it. So I'm gutted for him that he has lost it through events off the pitch rather than on it.

"He has made a mistake and admitted that. It's a shame that someone of his experience let their guard down for five minutes and lost their job over it."

Coleman has already ruled himself out of contention for the vacant job with England.
