Congo manager Florent Ibenge has confirmed that he will try to convince Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to snub England and instead pledge his allegiance to the Leopards.
Wan-Bissaka has been left out of Gareth Southgate's senior squad for this month's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro.
Southgate said that Wan-Bissaka's time will come but, having only been capped at Under-20s and Under-21s levels, he is still able to switch to Congo.
The 21-year-old has also represented the African nation at age-grade level, and Ibenge would love to have him as part of his squad.
"It depends on him," Ibenge told The Independent. "I sent my scout to watch him four months ago and he sent me a report. He played very well.
"I won't pick him for the squad, I want to speak with him first. I called him one month ago but he didn't answer. He has to want to accept the invitation and want to play for Congo, like [Yannick] Bolasie."
Wan-Bissaka's Palace teammate Wilfried Zaha also walked away from the England setup in 2017 to represent country of birth Ivory Coast.
