Steven Gerrard 'slams Honduras tackling'

Steven Gerrard is unhappy with Honduras players for launching into dangerous challenges during their draw in Miami.

England captain Steven Gerrard has criticised referee Ricardo Salazar for not clamping down on what he deemed to be poor tackling from Honduras in their World Cup warm-up game in Miami.

The Three Lions skipper was on the end of a late challenge from Luis Garrido during the first half of the 0-0 draw at Sun Life Stadium, and the Central American side later had Brayan Beckeles sent off for a stray arm on Leighton Baines.

However, Gerrard believes that the officials deserve some of the blame for allowing the game to continue in an ill-tempered way.

He told ITV Sport: "I'm quite frustrated. I thought the ref was poor, the game was interrupted, there was a big one in the first half and they were doing stupid fouls. There was no rhythm, we're frustrated but relieved at no injuries.

"I thought there were some horrific tackles for a friendly. I got caught with a bad one. But we came through with no injuries. We're frustrated, but we got a clean sheet and no injuries."

Gerrard was taken off at half time during the game.
