Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has revealed that he is "over the moon" with his first call-up to the England senior squad.
The 23-year-old has been selected by manager Roy Hodgson for next month's friendlies against Brazil and the Republic of Ireland.
"I am over the moon to get the call," McCarthy told Sky Sports News. "Growing up as a young boy, you dream of playing for your country. I have got that opportunity now."
McCarthy has made three previous appearances for England at Under-21 level.
