Ashley Young has revealed that he was delighted to score in England's 8-0 thrashing of San Marino on Friday.
The Three Lions ran riot in Serravalle as they picked up a third win out of five matches in World Cup qualifying.
Young made it 4-0 for the visitors midway through the first half with a long-range strike.
"I couldn't believe it myself, I was due a goal and it was nice to get on the scoresheet," Young is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I wanted to do well in today's game and now it is down to the manager for the team he picks."
England continue their qualifying campaign on Tuesday when they make the trip to Group H leaders Montenegro.
