Harry Kane scores a hat-trick as England Under-21s cruise past San Marino Under-21s 4-0.

England Under-21s have won 4-0 in San Marino this evening in their latest European Championship qualifier.

A hat-trick from Harry Kane helped to secure the win, which could have been far greater had the visitors put more of their chances away.

England started strongly and were ahead within five minutes. After a goalmouth scramble, Manchester United defender Michael Keane lashed the ball home from close range.

The away side continued to dominate, largely thanks to Raheem Sterling who was causing the hosts problems all over the pitch.

Sterling should have put England further ahead on 30 minutes, but somehow missed the target after good work from Thomas Ince.

Ince then missed a good chance of his own before James Ward-Prowse and Ravel Morrison both failed to make the most of good opportunities.

England finally got their second goal moments before half time. The referee adjudged that the goalkeeper had fouled Sterling despite getting a bit of the ball, and sent him off. Kane then stepped up to double the lead.

Morrison then missed a couple more chances before Kane got his second of the game, poking the ball in after seeing his initial effort saved by the goalkeeper.

England took their foot off the pedal slightly after that, despite half-chances for substitute Nathan Redmond, before Kane finally got his hat-trick in the final couple of minutes.

Tom Carroll played a clever ball over the defence and Kane finished well, rounding the goalkeeper and firing in from a tight angle.
