Marcus Rashford: England will learn from "nasty" experience

Marcus Rashford is determined to avoid a repeat of two years ago at this summer's World Cup, as England look to make amends for their last-16 exit at Euro 2016.

England striker Marcus Rashford has called on his teammates to prove that lessons have been learned from their "nasty" experience at Euro 2016.

The Three Lions head to this month's World Cup with memories of their infamous defeat to Iceland in the last-16 stage of their last major tournament still fresh in the memory.

Rashford, who was the youngest member of England's squad in France, is hopeful that those still standing from two years ago are able to give a better account of themselves in Russia this time around.

"The feeling of losing is a nasty feeling," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "Sometimes when you speak to people they don't really understand the feeling.

"We'll definitely take the things that happened in that tournament into the next one because that's going to put us in good stead.

"We have to express ourselves. Over the last 18 months or so we have improved as a team, and we have to go there and show everyone that we have improved as a team. If we do anything less than that then we are going to be disappointed in ourselves."

England beat Nigeria 2-1 at the weekend and are now preparing to face Costa Rica in their final pre-World Cup friendly on Thursday.
