Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that the club will monitor an ankle injury sustained by Leighton Baines to determine whether he can play again this season.
The England international was forced from the field in the second half of his side's 2-0 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday and was replaced by Luke Garbutt.
Martinez told the club's official website: "We are going to assess his ankle. He was really suffering, it was very painful so at that point we couldn't take any risks.
"We are going to assess him over the next 48 hours and find out if he is going to be available for the rest of the season."
Baines has made 37 appearances in all competitions this season for the Toffees, scoring three goals.
