Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has claimed that keeping a clean sheet against Newcastle United will give the team a "boost".
Roberto Martinez's side ended a five-game winless run in the Premier League by sealing a 3-0 triumph at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Aaron Lennon opened the scoring and Barkley netted from the penalty spot twice to give Everton all three points in a game that included the sending-off of Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles.
"The clean sheet is a boost for the whole team and will give us confidence," Barkley told BBC Sport. "We are focusing on each game as it comes trying to get three points. I've scored panenka penalties on the training ground before."
Everton have moved up to 12th in the table.
