Tim Cahill has slammed Yohan Cabaye for the incident that led to the Australian's red card after Everton's 3-1 win over Newcastle United.
The Toffees midfielder was sent off after grabbing the Frenchman by the neck following the final whistle at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Everton appealed against the red card, which the FA have subsequently rejected.
Cahill said that he accepts his three-match ban and wishes to draw a line under the matter.
"I accept my three-match ban," said the 32-year-old. "My reaction at the end of the game was out of character but I was disgusted at comments made to me by Cabaye.
"I don't wish to elaborate on the exact detail of what was said - but his words have no place either on or off the football pitch. Cabaye has apologised via his club's website and as far as I am concerned the matter is now closed."
The ban will come into force at the start of next season.
