Burnley boss Sean Dyche claims that he was "amazed" to see Kevin Mirallas avoid a red card as his side slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Everton.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has claimed that he was "amazed" to see Kevin Mirallas avoid a red card for a high tackle in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Everton.

The Clarets had Ashley Barnes sent off on the cusp of half time, but Mirallas escaped a similar fate for a crude challenge on George Boyd, and Dyche thought that the Belgian winger should have been dismissed.

He told BBC Sport: "I don't know how [Mirallas] stayed on. You should be sent off for them. He is not a malicious player but he should have been sent off.

"You try and do things in the correct manner [not surrounding referees or going down] and it doesn't work for you. People want to see people fighting in a fair and proper manner. We try to do that. The Mirallas one, I am amazed he stayed on the pitch.

Dyche added: "The loss leaves us fighting. Written off before the start, still being written off now. We have had plenty of knocks this season and bounced back. We will look to do that again against Leicester City next week."

Dyche's men host the Foxes, who have climbed above them in the table, at Turf Moor next weekend.
