Everton are reportedly prepared to make an official approach for Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a switch to Goodison Park following David Moyes's departure to Manchester United to replace Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired at the end of the season following an illustrious 26-year career at Old Trafford.
It is expected that Martinez will inform chairman Dave Whelan today that he intends to leave Wigan, which will prompt the Toffees to act quickly and get in contact with Martinez for an interview, according to the Daily Post.
While the likes of Cardiff City's Malky Mackay and Celtic's Neil Lennon have been considered, reports have claimed that those connected with the club are leaning towards Martinez following Wigan's FA Cup glory.
