Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has admitted that he and his teammates are unsure why they struggle to perform following midweek Europa League action.
The Merseyside outfit have won just two of their seven fixtures that have followed European outings - their latest of which was Sunday's 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
"If we could put our finger on it then we would change something," the Liverpool Echo quotes Gibson as saying. "I don't think the Thursday European games are affecting us.
"It might show in the results but physically it's not affecting us. The stats aren't down or anything. We're not doing anything different as players and as a team so I'm not really sure what it is."
Roberto Martinez's side currently sit 12th in the Premier League table.
