Republic of Ireland caretaker manager Noel King has claimed that Darron Gibson will be sidelined for 'several months' with cruciate knee ligament damage.
The Everton midfielder was stretchered off on Tuesday night during Ireland's 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in World Cup qualifying.
The 25-year-old is now expected to be on the sidelines for a lengthy period while he recovers.
Gibson only recently returned to the national team after ruling himself out for selection while former boss Giovanni Trapattoni was in charge.
