Everton defender Phil Jagielka is expected to miss up to six weeks of action after suffering medial ligament damage in his knee, the club have confirmed.
The England international, who was seen leaving Goodison Park on crutches after Everton's 2-1 defeat to Bolton in midweek, had to be substituted during the game after a challenge to keep out striker David N'Gog.
Everton, whose financial struggles were highlighted in the summer, are understood to have little funds to work with this winter.
David Moyes previously stated that he considered a centre-forward to be his main priority.
