Everton boss Roberto Martinez has conceded that his side will miss the influence of Gareth Barry in their midfield against Queens Park Rangers.
The 33-year-old is out of the clash at Goodison Park after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the Toffees' defeat to Manchester City last time out, but Martinez feels that there could be benefits to his absence ahead of the busy festive fixture schedule.
He told the club's official website: "Of course we will miss him. It was great to see him on Thursday giving such a calm influence to the youngsters and he's a real example for any young footballer at this football club.
"Yes, he'll be suspended against Queens Park Rangers, but we've got so many games after that that it's important he's fully refreshed and ready to have a big effect, as he always has, on our performances."
Barry has made 19 appearances for the Toffees in all competitions this season.
