Everton midfielder Steven Naismith has refused to blame Kevin Mirallas for missing a penalty in his side's goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion this evening.
The Belgian took over spot-kick duties from regular taker Leighton Baines, but ended up striking the ball against the post.
Mirallas was then substituted at half time, but Naismith believes that his team should have won the match regardless of the missed penalty.
"We have won the pen and the ball has fell to Kev, Kev is so confident, he showed in the FA Cup game against West Ham that he very confident then and he slotted his penalty away," Naismith told Sky Sports News.
"He is in form and he is playing well so he wanted to step up and take it. Unfortunately he has missed but we should have had enough in the 90 minutes (to win) rather than relying on the penalty."
Tonight's draw has extended Everton's winless run to seven matches.
