Jordan Pickford has claimed that Everton are not far off being a "top team" after holding Chelsea to a goalless draw at Goodison Park.
The Toffees had just 32% possession and failed to muster a shot on target but nevertheless took a point from Saturday's game against the Premier League champions.
England goalkeeper Pickford, who pulled off several smart saves during the game, claims that Everton did not look like they would be defeated by the visitors.
"We grafted like hell and dug in for a lot of the game," the 23-year-old told reporters. "We came in with a good gameplan from the boss and even had our chance to win it. They are a good team though.
"The defence put their heart on the line and we did not look like we were going to lose today. We are tight at the back and if we improve in possession and going forward we could be a top team."
The result means that the ninth-placed Toffees have now not lost in six Premier League games, five of those since Sam Allardyce took charge.
