Tom Davies "proud" of personal display against Bournemouth

Tom Davies admits that it was important he made an impression from the bench in Everton's win over Bournemouth, which he believes he achieved with his contribution.

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has admitted that he was delighted to make an impression against Bournemouth after being left "disappointed" by Ronald Koeman's decision to leave him on the bench from the start.

The 19-year-old produced a game-changing contribution when introduced 55 minutes into the match with his side a goal down, playing a part in both goals - scored by Oumar Niasse - as the Toffees prevailed 2-1.

Davies, who featured for the full 90 minutes of the EFL Cup win over Sunderland in midweek, is happy with his own personal display at Goodison Park on Saturday and hopes that a message has now been sent out.

"I was disappointed not to start, so when I came on I wanted to make an impact and I feel like I have done that," he told the club's official website. "When I came on I thought it was hard but felt I got myself into the game, and all the lads really supported me.

"I knew it was important to get the support to the forwards and in the end it paid off. It is always good to be involved with the goals and to get an assist – and maybe half an assist... I am proud of my performance.

"It was good movement and good build up play for the first goal. I was in the middle of the pitch and Oumar made a great run. It was a great first touch by him as well, so I cannot take all the credit – he did a lot after my pass!"

England Under-21s international Davies has started three games in the top flight so far this season, while also being brought off the bench on three occasions.
