A second-half equaliser from Sone Aluko earns Hull City a 1-1 draw against Everton in the Premier League.

Sone Aluko's first goal of the season has earned Hull City a 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison Park.

Romelu Lukaku had given the Toffees a first-half lead but Aluko's equaliser proved enough to earn Hull their first point in five games.

After a nervy opening from both sides, Everton began to offer a threat in the final third, with Lukaku having a powerful effort well claimed by goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

The pressure from the home side continued but against the run of play, Hull almost edged in front when Nikica Jelavic met a Ahmed Elmohamady cross but his header evaded the post.

That miss proved costly as 11 minutes before half time, Everton took the lead when Kevin Mirallas provided the delivery for Belgian compatriot Lukaku to finish confidently at the back post.

The second half began with Everton threatening a second, with Mirallas seeing a chip drift over the crossbar, but after being introduced as a substitute six minutes earlier, Sone Aluko equalised for the Tigers.

The forward out-foxed Toffees veteran Sylvain Distin before driving the ball past Tim Howard at his near post to fully justify Steve Bruce's decision to introduce him to the action.

The former Birmingham City trainee was proving a danger every time that he picked up the ball and a minute after his goal, he crossed for Jelavic who just failed to hit the target from close range.

Chances began to dry up for both sides but the frustration was coming from the Everton supporters, who were disappointed to see their team struggle to build on their first-half lead.

After six minutes of added-on time were announced, the hosts pushed for a late winner but they couldn't create anything in front of McGregor's goal as Hull held on for an impressive point on Merseyside.
