Bournemouth record their first win in nine matches as Ryan Fraser nets a double in a 2-1 victory over Everton in the Premier League.

Two goals from Ryan Fraser have earned Bournemouth a much-needed 2-1 victory over Everton in Saturday's Premier League fixture at the Vitality Stadium.

Idrissa Gueye had cancelled out Fraser's first-half effort but the Scot scored again in the final minute to ensure that the Cherries won for the first time in nine top-flight matches.

Eddie Howe's team now sit in 13th place in the top-flight standings, while Everton are in ninth position after Sam Allardyce suffered his first defeat since his arrival at Goodison Park.

The first opportunity on the South coast fell to Steve Cook but after meeting Fraser's corner, the defender sent a header over the crossbar.

The home side continued to have the better of the play during the opening quarter of the game, and Callum Wilson was the next player to go close with his close-range effort being superbly blocked by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Jordon Ibe had a strike tipped wide by Pickford before Dan Gosling headed off target but with 12 minutes of the first half remaining, Bournemouth finally made the breakthrough.

A mistake from the returning James McCarthy gifted the ball back to the Cherries and after Josh King picked out Fraser, the winger did the rest to find the bottom corner with a well-taken volley.

Just before the break, however, Bournemouth were dealt a blow when King was forced off through injury and despite being outperformed for much of the opening 45 minutes, Everton ended the half the stronger of the two sides.

Allardyce opted to introduce Wayne Rooney at the break and it led to Everton controlling the opening stages of the second half, but it was the arrival of Oumar Niasse which sparked the Toffees finding an equaliser.

After an error from Simon Francis, Gylfi Sigurdsson played the ball to Niasse, whose neat flick set up Gueye to find the net with an excellent finish from inside the area.

The visitors were in the ascendancy but Bournemouth soon bounced back through Wilson, who fired too close to Pickford after being able to burst through on goal.

Benik Afobe also got himself more involved in the play as Bournemouth looked for a second goal but the introduction of Yannick Bolasie indicated that Allardyce was not prepared to settle for a point.

The winger soon sent a shot over the bar on what was just his second outing in more than a year but at the other end, Wilson remained in the thick of the action for the home team.

However, it was his teammate Ibe who almost found the back of the net with a shot from the edge of the penalty area, which ended up striking the crossbar and going clear of danger.

The game appeared to be destined for a draw but in the final minute of normal time, Fraser cut inside before seeing his shot deflect off the leg of Michael Keane and find the corner of Pickford's net.
