Everton are in pole position to sign Jack Colback when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to a report.
The Sunderland midfielder is yet to sign fresh terms with Gus Poyet's side, and his failure to do so has seen a number of Premier League clubs linked with his services, including Liverpool and Newcastle United.
However, The Mirror reports that the Toffees are leading the chase for his signature.
With Gareth Barry's loan from Manchester City set to finish in the summer, the newspaper adds that Roberto Martinez is eager for reinforcements.
Colback, who has been a regular in the Sunderland team this season, had loan spells with Ipswich Town earlier in his career.
