Scouts from Everton reportedly watched Sevilla defender Federico Fazio in action last week.
With Sylvain Distin due to turn 37 in December, it is believed that Roberto Martinez is keen to bolster his defensive options at Goodison Park.
Having considered a number of options, Martinez sent a scouting team to watch the Argentine centre-back help Sevilla progress in the Europa League at the expense of Maribor, according to the Daily Mail.
The report added that the 26-year-old has previously been a target of Everton's rivals Liverpool, as well as Arsenal.
