Everton have emerged as the favourites to sign Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey despite facing competition to land his signature.

Several teams are attempting to secure the Juventus star in the upcoming January transfer window, with a return to the Premier League being on the cards for him.

However, it has been reported by Calciomercato, that Everton have been the first club to make contact with his agent which has put them in the driving seat when it comes to a potential transfer.

The midfielder is earning £400,000-per-week at the moment and he does have 19 months on left on his contract with the Old Lady.

However, Ramsey has only played three games in the Serie A this season, and the club are hoping to offload him in the upcoming transfer market to free up wages.

Newcastle United are also well-known to be interested in signing the 30-year-old, with the club hoping to splash the cash for the first time since their takeover took place.
