Everton manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that club-record signing Romelu Lukaku is "worth every penny" at £28m.
The Belgium international forward finally signed a five-year deal on Wednesday evening, after an initial delay surrounding paperwork.
Spanish boss Martinez believes that the forward will develop into one of the best strikers in world football at Goodison Park.
He told reporters: "Romelu was our number one target. It had to be a record fee transfer. He is worth every penny.
"Rom will never say it but his target should be to become one of the best world-class strikers.
"It's a very significant day in the history of our club, it's every Evertonian's wish to sign Rom, and this is a footballing statement of what we want to do."
Lukaku finished as Everton's top scorer while on loan last season, netting 15 times for the Toffees.
