Roberto Martinez has insisted that Everton will not rush into a decision regarding the future of Antolin Alcaraz.
The Spanish defender followed Martinez from Wigan Athletic to Goodison Park in the summer of 2013, but injuries have made it difficult for the defender to produce his best form.
However, Martinez has not ruled out offering the 32-year-old a new deal before his current contract expires in the summer.
"We have a window in the summer to decide. It is too early to tell what will happen," the Toffees boss told reporters.
"I am sure the next eight games will tell us a lot about what is going to be the situation of every player at the club, not just the ones who are out of contract."
Everton return to action against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
