Everton forward Wayne Rooney has reportedly moved closer to securing a move to DC United.
Since the end of the season, Rooney has been linked with a switch to the MLS and extensive talks have already been held between the two parties.
Rooney needs to secure a visa to relocate to the United States and according to The Mirror, the former England captain is making every effort to complete the process.
The report claims that Rooney made a trip to Belfast on Friday to visit the US Consulate, with the 32-year-old now left to wait for the paperwork to go through.
Rooney would not be able to represent DC until July, but the Washington-based outfit will welcome the arrival of the striker with the club sitting three points adrift at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
