Exeter City forward Tom Nicholls has been nominated by Sky Bet for December's League Two Player of the Month Award.
The 20-year-old was handed his first start of the season on December 14 and he marked the occasion by scoring two goals in a 3-2 win at Accrington Stanley.
Nicholls, who ended the month by netting the opener in his side's 3-1 victory at Devon rivals Torquay United, will have to overcome strong competition from fellow nominees Deon Burton, Michael Flynn and Ross Worner.
Newport County midfielder Flynn also hit the net three times in December, notching both goals in the Exiles' 2-0 win over Portsmouth, before hitting the winner in a 1-0 victory at Wycombe Wanderers on Boxing Day.
Scunthorpe United striker Burton went one better by scoring four goals in as many matches, helping his side remain unbeaten in the month.
Meanwhile, AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper Worner conceded just two goals in three games and made a string of fine saves during the Londoners' 0-0 draw with Mansfield Town.
