Oxford United have lost 2-0 against Fleetwood Town in today's League Two clash at the Kassam Stadium.
The home side threatened within the first minute as David Connolly forayed into the Fleetwood area, but Nathan Pond managed to clear the danger.
In the sixth minute, Antoni Sarcevic had the game's first effort on goal for the away side, but Ryan Clarke was able to get down well to hold on to the ball.
Midway through the first half, Pond found himself unmarked in the box, but his effort for the U's was off target, while on the half-hour mark, the away side countered when Nathan Ball was flagged offside while trying to direct a Sarcevic ball goalwards.
The deadlock, however, was broken by Fleetwood just three minutes later, when a corner was swung in and flew to the far post, where Ball had the simple job of tapping the ball in.
Within the first few minutes of the second half, the Cod Army were given a free kick on the edge of the U's box, with Sarcevic stepping up to take the set piece. He drove the ball into the top right-hand corner to double his side's lead.
The away side continued to threaten, with chances from Josh Morris and Sarcevic, while Oxford had to wait until the 73rd minute to register an effort in the second half, Scott Davies heading wide despite being well placed.
With the home side misplacing passes and running out of steam as the match went on, save for a tame shot by Dave Kitson with just a few minutes left to play, the Cod Army were able to see off the game and secure the win.
