France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said that he and his teammates have "nothing to be ashamed of" after losing 2-0 to Spain at Euro 2012.
Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who fired the defending champions ahead in the first half, was able to seal Spain's place in the semi-finals from the spot after the break.
"There is inevitable disappointment," Lloris told TF1. "We wanted to accomplish the feat, but we lacked spark in the final third.
"We did well in limiting their chances in front of goal, but there is nothing to be ashamed of. We must use this performance to build for the future."
Spain will now face Group B runners-up Portugal in the semi-finals.
